Dover Expects Strong First Quarter Earnings Gain
NEW YORK, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Dover Corporation (NYSE: DOV) announced today that EPS for the first quarter ending March 31 will be up by 65-75% from the $.32 reported last year. Gains in sales and earnings are anticipated in each of its four business segments, led by the Technologies Segment, whose earnings will more than triple from a cyclically low level in last year's first quarter.
Thomas L. Reece, Dover's CEO, commented, "The quarter is progressing much as we expected in our Industries, Resources, and Diversified segments. In our Technologies Segment, the Circuit Board Assembly & Test (CBAT) and Special Electronic Component (SEC) companies are benefiting from the continuing recovery of the electronics industry in general, and from the growth of computer, data transmission, and mobile telecom end-markets in particular. These businesses will set quarterly records for orders, sales, and earnings. We anticipate that their orders will again exceed shipments for the fourth consecutive quarter."
Dover expects to release first quarter financial results on April 17, 2000.
